INTENTION
"A light shone in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it" (John 1:5).
Recently, I
picked the passage below randomly from Saint Faustina's diary. It fit perfectly with my situation of needing to decide which was the better of two possible options? I love when that happens!
Here is the passage:
"If one does not know what is better, one must reflect, consider and seek advice, because one must not act with an uncertain conscience. When uncertain, say to yourself: What ever I do will be good. I have the intention of doing good. The Lord God accepts what we consider good, and the Lord God also accepts and considers it as good. One should not worry if, after some time, one sees that these things are not good. God looks at the intention with which we begin, and will reward us accordingly" (The Diary of Saint Maria Faustiina Kowalska, p317, 800).
Actually, twice in the past week I have opened Faustina's diary to the exact passage I needed to read.
For someone who struggles with making decisions, how amazing it is to read that God looks at my intention and not at whether I make the right decision or not. This is powerful. Powerful because it is me who controls my own intention. Neither friend or foe has any control over my intention.
This is incredibly liberating to consider and an awesome responsibility.
And I'm not even close to unpacking this quote of Saint Faustina's and
how it relates to my life at this time.
"God looks at the intention with which we begin."
So we light a candle in our heart, set an intention, say a prayer, and then we don't worry.
Amen

How amazing that I would discover talks by Sr. Gaudia Skass, OLM on January 22nd
--Talks that happen on the 22nd of every month.
At first I thought this was God "rewarding me accordingly", but now it feels like God leading me accordingly.
Thanks be to God
