WHEN I CAN'T DECIDE
I thought of the song American Pie when I read in the news that the American government is sort of threatening to bull-doze the Statue of Liberty. I think of someone in my CAC group who said to be curious about how the news can deaden us. I would add, and how it can "kill" the music. How it can make me a Jonah who wants to just get on a boat and say 'a pox on them all.' My prayer this morning, before I head out to do some errands, is this: "Lord help me surrender the things that numb me, help me surrender my own negative thoughts about everyone and everything." Lord help me turn off the news and sing this song whenever what's happening with Trump scares and angers me. Whenever I can't decide what religion I want to be, what party I want to belong to.
