It is tough to decide how to celebrate Canada Day this year with all that is going on in the news.
I am working on a reflection I hope to post for July 1st.
But for now I share the novena invitation and link below.
"In
keeping with celebrating the Year of St. Joseph announced by Pope
Francis in December 2020, the Canadian faithful are invited to pray a
Novena in honour of the guardian of the Holy Family. The Novena begins on
22 June and ends on 30 June, and it is followed by an Act of
Entrustment on 1 July which is also the annual commemoration of Canada
Day." (St. Basil's Parish Toronto e-bulletin).
P.S.
To
my American friends, if you want you can start the novena to St. Joseph
on Friday, June 25 to coincide with your Fourth of July Celebrations
in the United States!
ST. JOSEPH PRAY FOR US:
St. Joseph you protected Mary and Jesus in difficult political times
Protect us now as Canada faces a Truth and Reconciliation Threshold
St. Joseph you did not disgrace and dismiss Mary
When you discovered she was pregnant
St. Joseph help us to not disgrace and dismiss each other
As we discover the remains of all the Indigenous children from residential schools
Help us protect and take care of each other as we face individual,
and collective demons.
We are not alone.
Amen.
