SETTING OUT INTO THE DEEP

Today is the Vigil of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the LORD-- a good day to launch a blog called, Stranded on the Mainland. Thank you to my Basilian spiritual director Fr. Morgan Rice for giving me the phrase 'Duc in Altum' (setting out into the deep).

So I start-- in the middle of a pandemic lockdown, on the shore so to speak, ready to dive into the deep--whatever that deep may be. In addition to, and against the advice of, the Ontario College of Social Workers, I'm making the decision not to renew my professional social worker registration this year. I'm giving it up for Lent in order to focus on trauma therapy and to follow the promptings of my heart to be a fulltime writer.

Having been a social worker is a valued part of my outer journey.
It's time to lighten my backpack.

What dream is God prompting me to let go of in the middle of this pandemic?
What dream am I holding onto or neglecting?

Who am I following?
Do I feel peace or fear?
I think I feel both.

There is still time to NOT stay the course.
It is never too late--

to lighten a backpack
to let go of everything that came before--
the registration card

to set out
into   the   healing (but not easy)
    deep...

I'm 'Holding on and Letting Go.'
